When Extensions Aren’t An Option
The owners of this magnificent Grade II listed house wanted to add a guest wing but needed a creative way to realise their vision.
With a young family, they were loathed to sacrifice garden space or compromise their glorious scenic views with a traditional extension, and in any case, planning restrictions on protected properties would have prevented this.
Luckily, building underground isn’t subject to the same restrictions and Basement Structures were able to help them build a vast living area underneath their garden.
Built with Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) this subterranean room was large enough to accommodate a bedroom, living room and kitchen area and the garden was backfilled on top of it, leaving their outside space and views unscathed.
